Eagle Pines Campus

Situated on 130 acres of beautiful piney woodland near the lower Colorado River in Smithville, Texas, Eagle Pines is a natural playground for boys.

All our campus facilities have been newly constructed, expanded, or renovated in the last few years, including:

  • 3,735 sq. ft. school/dorm space for 24 students, two classrooms, a library, computer lab and small infirmary
  • 2,226 sq. ft. Fortune Hall with kitchen and dining and meeting rooms
  • 1,382 sq. ft. administration building
  • 1,600 sq ft. shower and laundry facility
  • 2,400 sq. ft. boat building / woodworking shop
  • outdoor basketball court and soccer / rugby field

Outdoor and Other Recreation:

The environment abounds with activities waiting for participation from the students. The campus is situated on Park Road 1C, which runs from Bastrop State Park (about six miles to the west of campus) to Buescher State Park (about six miles to the east.) Park Road 1C is a roller coaster ride which is part of the MS-150, a famed bike race from Houston to Austin.

Sixteen thousand acres of parks, recreation areas, and preserves exist along the Colorado River from Lake Buchanan to Matagorda Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. Most of the parks and recreation areas are located within an hour of the campus and offer opportunities for learning in the field, as well as activities like guided river programs like day-break and moonlight float trips, canoeing, and rafting. Students can also enjoy backpacking, camping, swimming, wildlife viewing, biking, hiking, fishing, nature study, and interpretive tours.

In addition to the rich outdoor environment, there is an equally varied and rich cultural environment for learning. Eagle Pines is located one hour from Austin, Texas which is rich in cultural and musical possibilities. Eagle Pines is located only two hours from Houston and San Antonio, both cities with an endowment of culture and the arts. If deemed appropriate for current students, field trips may provide another source for learning.
