Eagle Pines Academy is located in the piney woods near the lower Colorado River, in Smithville, Texas, about a 45 minute drive from the Austin International Airport.
The campus is set in 130 acres of piney woods on Park Road 1C, which runs from Bastrop State Park (about six miles to the west of campus) to Buescher State Park (about six miles to the east). Park Road 1C is a roller coaster ride which is part of the MS-150, a famed bike race from Houston to Austin.
Bastrop State Park, 3,500 acres, is located inside the famous "Lost Pines," an isolated timbered region of loblolly pine and hardwoods. Buescher State Park, at the other end of Park Road 1C, is 1,000 acres providing non-motorized boating, fishing, nature study, biking, hiking, and interpretive tours.
The campus is within one hour of most of the Lower Colorado River Authority's 16,000 acres of parks, recreation areas, and preserves along the Colorado River from Lake Buchanan to Matagorda Bay on the Gulf of Mexico.
In addition to the rich outdoor environment, there is an equally varied and rich cultural environment for learning. Eagle Pines is located one hour from Austin, Texas which is a city rich in cultural and musical possibilities. Eagle Pines is located only two hours from Houston and San Antonio, both cities with
an endowment of culture and the arts.
Directions to Eagle Pines Academy From Austin or the Austin Airport
Travel east on Texas State Hwy 71
Go through the town of Bastrop.
From the last stop light on Hwy 71 (which is at Tahitian Drive/Loop 150), proceed 4.9 miles straight on Hwy 71 to Cottletown Road. After the last stop light, the terrain changes and you have entered the pine woods.
Watch for sign indicating Cottletown Road. Close to Cottletown Road, you will cross Alum Creek and immediately thereafter, will pass Alum Creek Antiques Center on the left. The next street to the left after the Antiques Center is Cottletown Road.
Cross median and turn left on Cottletown Road, go 2.4 miles to first stop sign.
At the first stop sign on Cottletown Road, turn right onto Park Road 1C. There is no street sign at the intersection, but there is a Park Road 1C sign immediately after you make the turn.
Proceed 1 mile, our driveway is the first paved road to the left.
Come up the driveway, the parking lot is at the top of the hill on the left
The office is the 2nd building on the left.
